Meet Josh
We all have musicians within us. My goal is to help you uncover that truth for yourself.
I began my musical journey during my freshman year of high school when a scheduling error mistakenly placed me in choir. What started as an unexpected mix-up sparked an everlasting love for music, one that continues to inspire me to this day. Now, I’ve had the privilege of teaching piano, voice, and music theory for the past two years. Through teaching, I strive to give back to the community that cultivated my love for music and to inspire others in the same way I was.
My own musical journey shapes how I teach. I started less than a decade ago, and I still remember what it was like to strain my voice, struggle with pitch, or feel completely lost reading sheet music. My musicianship wasn’t something that came naturally; I had to build it through intensive ear training, focused music theory study, diaphragm exercises, and more. I know what it is to feel stuck, but I’ve also learned what works. Being a musician isn’t just about skill, it’s about having the mindset to remain persistent and critically think through any challenge. We’ll develop both skill and mindset together.
With a personalized curriculum, we’ll define your goals, shape your musical identity, and give you the tools to move forward with confidence. I’ve found the hardest part of learning isn’t mastering every scale or unlocking your mix belt, it’s discovering your purpose as a musician. Think of all the times you meant to practice but felt discouraged. Not because it wouldn’t help you improve, but because you believed you wouldn’t improve. Together, we’ll uncover your unique strengths and aspirations.
The most satisfying part of teaching is seeing concepts finally click for my students. Once you have the confidence, everything else begins to fall into place. Together we’ll explore why music works the way it does and bring clarity to what once felt elusive, whether it’s breaking down the structure of chords or exploring the scientific reason behind vocal technique. You’ll walk away with the tools to explore music confidently on your own. My goal is not only to help you master your instrument, but to deepen your understanding of the music you make, so that one day, you can pass that same love of music on to others. That’s why I teach.
If you’re interested in learning more or getting started, I’d be more than happy to connect. I look forward to helping you take the next step in your musical journey!
