DESCRIPTION: Develop skills to become a well-rounded vocalist. Emphasis on musical theatre, classical/choral, pop, rock, and contemporary styles. Students will build a portfolio of pieces among these genres. Students will learn proper breath control, strategies to reduce tension, strengthening the singer’s musicality, finding the mixed voice, vocal health maintenance, and more.

DESCRIPTION: Recommended for those enrolling in AP Music Theory. Understand why music works the way it does. Emphasis on key signatures, clefs, chords, scales, time signatures, musical analysis, basic composition, and more. Applicable to voice, piano and guitar lessons.

DESCRIPTION: Learn the basics of piano. Emphasis on proper hand placement, scales, chords, arpeggios, basic music theory, and sight reading. Students will be given repertoire that apply these techniques.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Yamaha P-45 digital piano available upon request at lessons if the student does not have a piano available at home.

PRICE: $45 $40/half-hour

DESCRIPTION: Recommended for those who are already familiar with basic piano technique. Emphasis on developing musicality, learning about and building a repertoire among different periods: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary. Explore other styles such as jazz, blues, and rock. Students will also be introduced to improvisational techniques.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Yamaha P-45 digital piano available upon request at lessons if the student does not have a piano available at home.

PRICE: $40 $35/half-hour

DESCRIPTION: Learn the basics of guitar. Emphasis on chords, scales, fingerstyle, strumming, and picking techniques. Students will build a portfolio of pieces utilizing chords and techniques learned over the course.

PRICE: $30 $25/half-hour

DESCRIPTION: Prepare for a musical theatre or choir audition. Students will learn proper audition etiquette, strategies for maintaining confidence during an audition, and audition conventions. Students will also receive feedback on their audition material, have an opportunity to sing with an accompanist, and test their range. Those with prepared audition material can use this session as a mock audition.

ADDITIONAL INFO: This is intended as a one-off session, or a non-repeating lesson. Therefore, your free first consultation does not apply to this course. However, those who are unfamiliar with auditions can contact me for a complementary discussion of audition basics. This lesson cannot be bundled with others; though, the $5 discount for doubling session length still applies. Students are encouraged to re-take this session whenever they have an upcoming audition.

  • Each lesson is offered as a half-hour session.
  • Session length can be doubled for a single lesson, or two lessons can be combined for an hour-long session.
  • Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Lesson frequency per month is flexible.
  • I travel house-to-house for lessons, serving Brentwood, Oakley, Discovery Bay, and parts of Antioch.
  • An in-studio option is also available. In-studio lessons can be booked Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2pm-6pm. The studio location is near Downtown Brentwood. Contact me for availability!
  • Payments will be due at the end of each month. Payments are taken through Paypal, Venmo, cash or Zelle.
